The Wisconsin Public Health Association WiSHES Project (Wisconsin Improving School Health Services) was featured in the March 2015 issue of NASN School Nurse.

The article (written by Badger Bay Staff Teresa A. DuChateau, DNP, RN, CPNP and Sarah Beversdorf, MPH/MSW; and Marie Wolff, PhD from the Medical College of Wisconsin) provides an overview of the newly developed, easy to use online collection of school nursing procedures.  The procedures were developed following an initial assessment of schools throughout Wisconsin and an evaluation by 15 pilot sites.  Final procedures are posted on the WiSHES website and available for school nurses and school personnel.

This 5-year project began in 2011. It is funded by the Healthier Wisconsin Partnership Program, a component of the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin endowment at the Medical College of Wisconsin. The current project builds on a 2007-08 project, Determining the Status of Wisconsin School Health Services. Core partners on the project include:

  • Medical College of Wisconsin
  • Wisconsin Association of Local Health Departments and Boards
  • Wisconsin Association of School Nurses
  • Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services, Division of Public Health
  • Wisconsin Public Health Association
  • Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction
