Gundersen Health System CEO Dr. Jeff Thompson will headline a Wisconsin Health News Newsmaker Event Tuesday, May 5 at the Madison Club in Madison. As Thompson plans to hand over the reins at Gundersen, his system, like others across the state, is navigating a period of change. Thompson is the chairman of abouthealth, a statewide network of some of the state’s largest health systems, and Gundersen’s health plan announced earlier this year it’s discussing a partnership with UW Health’s affiliate Unity Health Insurance.
In his decade-and-a-half at the helm, Gundersen became the first health system in the nation to achieve energy independence, while opening a new hospital and expanding its inpatient behavioral health services. Gundersen is also a world leader in end-of-life planning.
Conversation begins at 12:15 p.m.
