For the first time in eight years, Wisconsin voters will elect a new governor this fall. While Republicans have coalesced around U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany, the Democratic field is wide open, and each candidate has their own plans to shape Wisconsin healthcare. 

The next leader will take over amid a pivotal time for the industry. Medicaid is in for a major overhaul thanks to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, Affordable Care Act premiums are skyrocketing and rural health providers are struggling to stay afloat. 

Do candidates want to continue Gov. Tony Evers’ policies or move the state in a different direction? What could that mean for Wisconsin patients?

On April 8, Wisconsin Health News is assembling the top seven Democratic candidates for governor to learn more about their health plans and vision for the state.
